Now to start the UAE emulation itself
you can simply double click on any of the preconfigured
setups defined in AF or AIAB, however as with
anything a little bit of tinkering can help to
improve things significantly.
Below is a section by section guide
to things that you can tweak for that little bit
of extra oomph.
 |
| The Chipset Window |
If you are using Amiga Forever the chances are
that all the pre configurations will be set to
Full ECS. If you are using a PC @ less than 1ghz
I would recommend leaving this setting as it is
unless you specifically require AGA for a game
or an application. It is not required for Workbench
as this is handled by Picasso and will be running
at 16 or 32bit. Collision level can be left at
the default unless you run into problems. An example
of this is Deluxe Galaga AGA which requires the
Collision Level to be set to Full on some systems.
If you have a game which supports NTSC you may
also tick the NTSC box.

| The Sound Window |
The sound settings for UAE can vary depending
on the spec of your PC. Over 1.2ghz and you should
be able to get fully accurate stereo at 44100
with no real issues. Sound is the one thing that
can greatly effect the performance of UAE so if
the performance seems shaky the sound settings
are always a good place to look. For Around 1ghz
try setting the sound to 22500 Stereo and Enabled,
BufferSize and Sound Driver Lag Compensation as
Default and Interpolation Disabled. For a machine
of 1.2 ghz or faster you should be able to run
as shown in the window.
 |
| The Floppies Window |
UAE allows you to emulate up to 4 Amiga Floppy
Drives and supports both Double and High Density.
To boot from a floppy simply click on the ...
button next to the drive and select the ADF image
to use. Another advantage to UAE is the ability
to speed up the floppy performance. As well as
the Turbo Option you can increase the performance
up to 800%. I would suggest selecting 800% as
this will work for the majority of titles. You
will however, come across a few titles that will
require you to set this to normal.
 |
| The Create Standard Floppy
Process |
If you click "create standard floppy"
you will be prompted to save blank.adf. Click
Save and you will now have a blank 720dd Floppy
suitable for save games when required.
